Alas, Covid is still among us.
For everyone coming to Balkanalia as a full-time camper or an evening party guest, we recommend following these guidelines:
The week before camp:
- Wear masks in public, especially if you are flying or traveling with others. Airports are fantastic Covid spreaders.
- If you had Covid within the last 10 days and don’t have anymore symptoms, please test until you get two negative tests (taken 48 hours apart). (If you still have symptoms, let’s assume you’re still contagious.) See CDC testing guidelines
The day of check-in at Balkanalia:
- Don’t come if you have a sniffle or sore throat, even if they’re mild — chances are it’s not just allergies! Just let us know, and we’ll issue you a refund.
- If you think you may have been exposed, please test yourself before leaving for camp. The most effective testing strategy is to test twice, 48 hours between tests.
At camp:
- If you’re sharing a cabin with others, it’s extra important to be cautious before coming to camp, so you don’t unwittingly spread Covid in your sleep. If you have a portable air purifier with a HEPA filter, maybe bring it for your cabin!
- We’ll have some tests on hand if you need them, but we won’t have enough for everyone. Please bring your own tests. If you have some that have been lying around for a while, check online to see if the expiration date has been extended.
- If you develop symptoms or test positive for Covid at camp, we’ll ask you to isolate and leave camp at your earliest convenience.
