Camp Angelos | 32149 SE Stevens Rd, Corbett, OR 97019

Run by volunteers from the Greek Orthodox community of Oregon, the Camp Angelos Conference & Retreat Center is located only 24 miles east of downtown Portland in the foothills of Mt. Hood. It’s an exceptional site with first-rate accommodations.

Intimate gathering places from the lodge patio to porches to wooded groves to a sandy beach abound on these 98 forested acres nestled alongside the scenic Sandy River. The facilities at Camp Angelos are modern, attractive and convenient. The Kalamata Lodge has spectacular woodwork, an open-beamed ceiling and a massive stone fireplace. You’re never far from a restroom, and the whole camp is ADA-accessible. Camp Angelos has two cozy clusters of several 12-person cabins, each with light and heat. Large bath facilities are close by with lots of showers and abundant hot water. Campers needing privacy might prefer to tent or bring RVs – there’s lots of room for both.

Children and adults alike will be drawn to the soccer field, volleyball area, and outdoor basketball court by the Lodge. The relaxed schedule of this camp gives us ample opportunity to play together – one of the great features of balkanalia!

Getting to Camp Angelos

From The West (PORTLAND AND I-5 NORTH/SOUTH) It’s 22 miles from the junction of I-5/I-84 to camp, so allow at least 25 minutes from Portland. Take I-84 East to Exit 18. As you come off of the exit, turn left at the stop sign onto Jordan Road. Set your odometer to 0.0.

  • You will pass Lewis & Clark State Park on your left.

  • Stop at the stop sign. Continue straight onto Columbia River Highway. At 3.0 you’ll pass the Stark Street Bridge (keep going straight, please!). Then go through the hamlet of Springdale.

  • Right at the flashing yellow light. Take right fork onto Hurlburt Road.

  • Turn right onto Christensen Road. The road takes a hard right and turns into Stevens Road.

  • Follow balkanalia! signs.

From The East (HOOD RIVER, THE DALLES) Take I-84 West to Exit 18 (Lewis and Clark State Park) and follow the little road off the exit. It turns left and goes under the freeway. As you come out from under the freeway, turn your odometer to 0.0, keep on going straight (you’re on Jordan Road), and start following the directions above.
